Teachers’ Day Speech In English: Today is a very special day. The 5th of September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day. This day is not just a celebration but an occasion to honor those individuals who have guided us from darkness to light. Standing here today, I am expressing the feelings in my heart because teachers are the true architects of our lives.
As we all know, this day is celebrated in honor of the birth anniversary of India’s second President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a great teacher himself, who illuminated the lives of thousands of students with the light of knowledge. When his students expressed their desire to celebrate his birthday after he became President, he humbly said, “Celebrate my birthday as Teachers’ Day.” This is a tribute to him, and that’s what we are doing today. His life teaches us that teachers don’t just impart bookish knowledge; they teach us the art of living.
A small story comes to my mind. Once, in a small village, there was a teacher named Ram Guruji. He would come to school every day and teach not only academics but also moral values. There was a student from a very poor family who had no interest in studies because his circumstances had made him hopeless. But one day, Guruji called him aside and said, “My child, education is the only weapon in your life that will never abandon you.” The student trusted Guruji’s words and worked hard. Today, he is a successful engineer. This story always inspires me. Our teachers are just like that—they bring positive changes to their students’ lives, even if they receive no reward for it.
Teachers are like trees that endure the scorching sun to provide shade to their students. Parents give us birth, but teachers give us life. They don’t just teach us science or mathematics; they instill in us values like truth, honesty, courage, and compassion. Since ancient times, our culture has placed teachers on the highest pedestal. It is said, “Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwarah,” meaning the teacher is akin to God.

In today’s world, where technology has made everything accessible, no one can take the place of a teacher. They provide us with guidance that is personal and heartfelt, something the internet cannot offer. I want to tell my teachers that you are incredibly important to us. It is because of your hard work that we stand here today.
